Dugmore & Duncan dates back to 1897 when it was a small Boston-based lockshop. When brothers Chuck and Bob Cullum purchased the company from their father, their goal was to create a first rate distribution system for the door hardware industry. And they did it!

The Cullums, both experienced locksmiths themselves, appreciated the quality of SARGENT hardware. Specializing in this exceptional product, Dugmore & Duncan opened its first warehouse in Hingham, MA. They methodically proceeded to establish strategically placed warehouses countrywide. Each of these sites was loaded with more SARGENT door hardware and parts than anyone previously had ever attempted.

Simultaneously, sales technicians were hired and carefully trained to assist callers. This fulfilled the owners' intention to provide unmatched product support. Providing this value added service remains high on D&D's list of priorities.

As location, location, location is to the real estate market, education, education, education is to the door hardware market. This is not your average commodity. On a continuing basis, the sales technicians meet before and after business hours. Lisa Cullum-Faherty, Branch Operations Manager, frequently uses these meetings to discuss questions that have come to her attention. These sessions are great opportunities to explore challenges and share solutions. Additionally, Tom Fuery, Senior Technician with twenty years experience at D&D, uses these times to do product seminars. Each tech leaves these meetings armed with useful information offered by the other members of the tech-team.

Dugmore & Duncan's goal to provide top-of-the-line service to its customers led to the creation of the Outside Sales Team. While most end-user ordering can be accomplished by phone, there are times when customers really need someone who knows SARGENT hardware thoroughly to visit on-site.

D & D's hands on wholesaling provided feed back on proven products which customers were eager to acquire. Gradually, the warehouse space was expanded and carefully selected products were added to the inventory. Today, Dugmore & Duncan, THE SARGENT SOURCE, also proudly stocks and distributes other members of the ASSA ABLOY family of products. That includes Securitron, HES, and McKinney Hinges.

The California branch

Dugmore & Duncan Inc. owns and operates fully stocked warehouses in Massachusetts, California and Tennessee. Real time computers link all locations. Jim Whalen is in charge of the well-honed Computer Hub, located at the Hingham, MA corporate office. This specialized system provides each outlet instant access to the inventory and records held at all branches. The technicians know instantly when a sought after item is temporarily out of stock at one location but available from another. The status of a shipment is also at their fingertips.
